Foods To Consider For An Acid Reflux Diet By Lee Dobbins

This is some general advice if you are following an acid reflux diet. Eat large meals and eating before bed is not recommended if you have acid reflux diet. You are also expected to avoid the fat and / or spicy foods. All these habits can lead to increased production of stomach acid that can cause damage to the esophagus and enter. This is true if the closing muscles not working properly. The result is that you end with a permanent heartburn.

There are a lot of food to consider when you talk about acid reflux diet. There are foods that should be avoided, the food can be consumed in moderation and foods that can certainly have. The first part of acid reflux diet will deal with the food should be avoided:

Fruit - Lemon, orange juice, lemonade, Cranberry juice, tomato juice and orange balinese

Vegetables - mashed potatoes, raw onion and fried potatoes

Meat - beef or ground chuck, chicken nuggets, marbled sirloin, buffalo wings

Dairy - Milk shake, cream, ice cream and regular cottage cheese

Grains - Spaghetti with sauce and macaroni and cheese

Drink - Wine, liquor, whether all of decaffeinated coffee or regular, all tea is decaffeinated or regular

Fats / oil - milk, salad dressings, oil and vinegar salad dressing

Sweets / desserts - Chocolate, butter cookies, high fat, brownies, donut, the fried potato chips and corn chips

Next list of foods that are considered safe food if you have acid reflux diet:

Fruit - fresh apples, dried apples, bananas, apple juice, pineapple, papaya (this helps to neutralize stomach acid)

Vegetables - carrots, cooked potatoes, broccoli, cabbage, peas, green beans

Meat - extra-lean ground beef, skinless chicken breast, London broil steak, fish that are not added fat, egg white, egg substitutes

Dairy - feta or goat cheese, fat-free cream, fat-free cream cheese, low-fat soy cheese

Grains - Corn bread, multi-grain or white bread, graham crackers, oatmeal or bran cereal, pretzels, brown or white rice, rice cakes

Drink - Mineral Water

Fats / oil - low-fat salad dressings

Sweets / desserts - fat-free cookies, red licorice, jelly beans, baked potato chips

Here is food to be consumed in moderation if you are following an acid reflux diet:

Fruit - low-acid orange juice, peach, apple cider, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, dried cranberries, grapes

Vegetables - the cooked onion, garlic, leeks, scallions, sauerkraut

Meat - lean ground beef, scrambled eggs in butter, chicken salad, fried eggs, tuna salad, fried fish, beef or pork hot dogs, ham

Dairy - Yogurt, frozen yogurt, 2% or skim milk, low fat cottage cheese, Mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese

Grains - Granola cereal, garlic bread, muffin

Drink - Non-alcoholic wine, non-alcoholic beer, cola, beer, Root beer

Fats / oil - Ketchup

Sweets / desserts - low-fat cookies

This does not mean that a list of foods that can consume and avoid the acid reflux diet is but the beginning. If you find that reflux disease is a little under control, then perhaps you can add food slowly from the prohibition list to see how you'll react to it. If you make acid reflux worse, then you know that to avoid the food is good.
